I studied business at the University of Washington but left early to work at a Seattle startup and get mentored by Rowland Hanson—who Bill Gates recruited from Neutrogena to be Microsoft's first CMO. Upon hearing how he saved Windows from being called Interface Manager and orchestrated the OEM launch strategy, I knew learning from him every Sunday for the next 2 years was a once-in-a lifetime opportunity. I was right.
